During the second half of Wednesday 9 September, thunderstorms – some of which may be severe – are forecast across the entire region, with associated effects and damage likely. In the afternoon, in conjunction with the thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind (89 and 102 km/h) are also expected, most likely in the central-eastern lowlands and along the coast. The weather system is expected to subside by the evening. In areas affected by the showers, particularly in the central-western hilly and mountainous regions, there is a risk of localised surface runoff and erosion, a rapid rise in water levels in minor watercourses, and rapid landslides on unstable slopes. In the main river systems of the region’s watercourses, water levels are expected to exceed threshold 1 in mountainous and hilly sections, with consequent propagation into the valley sections.

Thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, are once again forecast for Thursday 10 September, most likely over the western Apennines and the central-eastern regions, with possible associated effects and damage. In the areas affected by the rainfall, particularly in the central-eastern hilly and mountainous regions, there is a risk of localised surface runoff and erosion, a rapid rise in water levels in minor watercourses, and landslides. In the main watercourses of the regional river system, water levels are expected to exceed threshold 1, particularly in mountainous and hilly sections.
